Off Liguria’s coast between San Remo and Cinqueterre, three marine protected areas (Area Marina Protetta di Bergeggi, AMP di Portofino and AMP di Cinqueterre) are located within the large PELAGOS marine mammal sanctuary. Striped dolphins, porpoises, beaked whales, pilot whales and sperm whales can be spotted here on a whale watching boat tour.

You will snorkel in the company of marine biologists over seagrass beds, sand and rock – from the beach and from a boat. Samples are taken and determined with microscopes.
Talking to local fishermen, you will learn about one of the oldest fishing methods with the Ligurian “tonnarelle”, which according to today’s knowledge is one of the most sustainable and eco-compatible fishing methods!

The coastal tour on the Sentiero di Levante offers the most fantastic view of the Gulf of Genoa and the wide blue.

* 5 nights with half board in a shared room in a 3-star hotel within walking distance of the sea

* Onshore snorkeling accompanied by a biologist in the marine reserve AMP Portofino (arrival independently)

* Ferry from Rapallo to San Fruttuoso. On the way back stop in Portofino (arrival on your own)

* Practical laboratory on marine litter in San Fruttuoso and a meeting with a fisherman/infotalk accompanied by a biologist.

* Whale watching from Genoa (arrival independently)

* Geobotanical guided excursion on the Sentiero Levante 3 hours.

* Guide service on two days

The self-explanatory modules deepen and/or complement the guided programs in terms of ESD – education for sustainable development.
