A river has a life of its own. Sometimes it flows as a mighty stream through floodplain forests and is home to rare kingfishers, beavers, grass snakes and exciting other amphibians. And sometimes it falls 23 meters into the depth like the Rhine in Schaffhausen, which flows from the Alps into Lake Constance at Bregenz and leaves the lake again via the Constance Funnel and the Untersee around the island of Reichenau. Sustainable flood protection is only possible if rivers can run their course renaturated.

* Guide tour by bus UNESCO World Heritage Island Reichenau with input on culture/history, agroecology, sustainable regional development, sustainable fisheries management.

* Excursion Rhine Falls with input on stream ecology and geomorphology of the Rhine, ferry ticket there and back. Return from Schloss Laufen to Schlössli Wörth, boat trip from Schlössli Wörth to the edge of the Rhine Falls and back.

* depending on availability of time, outdoor lecture on invasive species in the Constance funnel (Fischfauna Bodensee)

* Equipe local guides: content-related excursion guidance by geography students (topics: River ecology, ecological resilience, sustainable regional development, probably University of Bonn or Konstanz).
